My grandfather served in the Army during WWII and was stationed at the base in the Aleutian Islands.
He wrote my grandmother and said, “I miss you Virginia and you would never believe this, but there’s a woman behind every tree up here. Fortunately, there aren’t any trees!” My grandmother loved this line and shared it with me often.

Join us this year and get into the holiday spirit at the Museum’s annual festivities. Historic Old City Hall will be decked out for the season. View a variety of themed, decorated holiday trees in the Rotunda Room.
Bring your wish list, holiday cheer, and camera when you visit with Santa. He’ll be checking to see who’s been naughty or nice this year. Photo opps are self-serve using individual cameras/phones.
Admission is by donation, and proceeds are used to support the Museum’s rich offering of exhibitions and programming. deck
